Mattel is the world’s largest toy manufacturer. Mattel products include Barbie, Monster High, Ever After High dolls, Fisher-Price toys for toddlers, Hot Wheels and Matchbox toy cars, American Girl toys, books, and more.
Organization of space
In the new “doll” office of Mattel, the main areas have been set aside for a spacious open-space; also part of the space was allocated for offices and a number of meeting rooms, the main design elements of which were the most recognizable Mattel toys – steam locomotives from the cartoon “Thomas & Friends”, Hot Wheels racing cars, constructors and the famous Barbie dolls.
Despite the low ceiling height, the project team found a solution to place a significant amount of utilities in the ceiling space to create a comfortable working environment for a modern office. Thanks to brick walls, panoramic windows overlooking the railway, open communications and large areas, the office interior resembles classic lofts.
The original design solution was the separation of the coffee point area from the open-space with the help of a natural veneer rack alternating with glass inserts. A feature of the Mattel office was the use of expensive materials such as natural veneer, clinker tiles with a brick wall effect, porcelain stoneware, flooring with a concrete effect. The project also involved the installation of a large number of custom-made furniture and decor elements.
